Events and activities in the Roots Albania app
Besides the audio stories about 211 places, the Roots Albania app has two more sections: Events, for what is on in the city, and Activities, for things to do with the people who run them. You contact the provider of an activity on WhatsApp from inside the app and arrange it with them directly. Roots Albania does not take the booking.

What does the Events section show?
What is on, each event with its start time and its spot on the city map, so you can decide what to do tonight or tomorrow.
What kinds of activities are there?
Six kinds: boat and sea, hiking and nature, food and wine, culture and crafts, adventure, and day trips. An activity has no single date; its details say how long it lasts, when it runs and where you meet.
How do I contact an activity's provider?
Open the activity in the app and message the provider on WhatsApp, or call them. You ask your questions and agree the day and the time with the provider directly.
Does Roots Albania take the booking?
No. Roots Albania lists the activity and puts you in touch with the provider; the arrangement is between you and them.
Can I see events and activities on the map?
Yes. The city map has three modes: places, events and activities. Switch it to events or to activities to see what is near you, and back to places for the audio stories.
Can I share an event, an activity or a place?
Yes. Places, events and activities each have a share button that sends a rootsalbania.com link. On a phone with Roots Albania installed, the link opens that place, event or activity in the app; on a phone without it, the link leads to the App Store or Google Play.

What does an activity screen in the app show?
Photos of the activity, the business that runs it and a small map, then the details: how long it lasts, when it runs, the season, how demanding it is and where you meet. The WhatsApp and call buttons are on the same screen.
The six kinds in the Activities section are:

In which language do events and activities appear?
In the language chosen in the app, the same setting that chooses the language of the audio stories: the app asks for the event and activity listings in that language. The app has 28 languages.
How do the shared links work?
A shared link is a normal web address on rootsalbania.com, one for each place, event and activity. The Roots Albania app for iPhone and for Android opens these addresses itself, so a tap on the link goes straight to the item in the app. When the app is not installed, the web page at that address leads to the App Store or Google Play instead.
The share sheet is the phone's own, so the link can go out by WhatsApp, by message or by any other app on the phone.
I run events or activities in Albania. How do I get in touch?
Write to hello@rootsalbania.com and say what you run and where. The app covers Tirana, Durrës, Berat, Gjirokastra, Kruja, Shkodra, Saranda, Vlora, Korça and Pogradec.
