Community Guidelines

Last updated: 20 July 2026 · Effective from: 20 July 2026

These Community Guidelines explain how the community features of the Roots Albania app work and the simple rules that keep them safe and useful for everyone. They apply whenever you RSVP to an event, send us feedback, rate an activity, or view the events and activities that local businesses publish. If anything is unclear, email us at hello@rootsalbania.com.

Roots Albania is operated by ROOTS SHPK, a limited liability company registered in Albania (NUIS M61803028A), Tirana. You do not need an account to use the app: RSVPs, feedback, and ratings are tied only to your app installation, never to your name or face. These guidelines sit alongside our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

1. Where community features appear

Alongside our own travel content, the Roots Albania app has an Events tab and Activities that are created and published by vetted local businesses, not by ROOTS SHPK. Businesses cannot self-register: each venue is manually verified and provisioned by us before it can post anything. Within these features you can:

  • View events and activities published by businesses, including their photos and videos.
  • RSVPto an event (tap “Going”) to keep it handy and get a reminder.
  • Rate an activity from 1 to 10 stars.
  • Send feedback to the Roots team through the in-app feedback window.

2. The rules, in plain language

Roots Albania is a friendly, practical travel companion. To keep it that way, everyone who uses these features agrees to a few basic rules:

  • Keep it accurate. Content should be truthful. Do not post or promote fake events, false prices, or misleading offers.
  • Keep it lawful and respectful. Do not post anything unlawful, offensive, or abusive, whether that is an event, a feedback message, a nickname, or a rating.
  • Respect other people and their rights. Do not harass anyone and do not upload content you do not have the right to use.
  • Report what looks wrong. If you see something that breaks these rules, report it (see section 5). Reporting helps us keep the app safe for the next traveler.

3. Zero tolerance for objectionable content

There is zero tolerance for objectionable content on Roots Albania. Whether it is an event or activity published by a business, or a message, nickname, or rating you contribute, content must not be:

  • illegal;
  • pornographic or sexually explicit;
  • hateful or discriminatory;
  • violent or threatening;
  • harassing;
  • fraudulent or misleading (including fake events, false prices, or scam offers);
  • infringing on intellectual-property rights; or
  • harmful to minors.

ROOTS SHPK may remove any content and suspend or terminate any account at its sole discretion, without prior notice, for violations of this policy. This mirrors the no-tolerance clause in the terms that every publishing business accepts.

4. Content published by businesses (and embedded video)

Events and activities, including their titles, descriptions, photos, and videos, are third-party contentcreated by the businesses that publish them. They are shown to you as published; ROOTS SHPK does not pre-approve every post, but we act on reports (see sections 5 and 6).

Some businesses attach a video hosted on an external platform such as YouTube, Vimeo, or TikTok. The app shows only a still preview until you choose to play it. When you tap play, that video opens in an in-app player that loads content directly from the provider, and the provider’s own terms and privacy policy then apply to that playback. If you never tap play, no video is loaded from those providers.

5. How to report or hide content

You can act on anything that breaks these rules right inside the app, without an account:

  • Report an event. Open the event, tap the overflow (three-dot) menu, and choose Report. Pick a reason (inappropriate, spam, scam, wrong information, or other) and add optional details. The event immediately disappears for you, and an event is hidden for everyone automatically once it receives three independent reports.
  • Hide a business. From the same menu choose Hide this business to remove all of its events from your view. You can undo this at any time in Settings → Hidden businesses.
  • Email us. You can always report anything, or ask us to remove content, at hello@rootsalbania.com.

6. What we do about reports (moderation)

Every report reaches our team. We review all reports within 24 hours and can hide a single event, hide an entire business, or deactivate the business account that published the content. Automatic hiding at three reports is reversible: if reports turn out to be abusive, we can restore the content.

We reserve the right to remove any content, and to suspend or terminate the access or account of anyone who repeatedly breaks these guidelines. Because using the app requires no personal account, the usual consequence for a traveler is that the offending content is removed; for a publishing business it can mean suspension or termination under its terms.

7. Feedback, RSVPs, and ratings are private to you

What you contribute is not shown to other travelers. Your feedback messages go only to the Roots team. Your RSVPs are never shared, and the app never tells you how many people are attending anything. Ratings are combined into an average only; no one can see how you personally rated an activity. You can change or remove your ratings and clear your RSVPs at any time. How we handle this data is described in our Privacy Policy.
